The Weight of Silence explores the quiet tension between strength and fragility, connection and restraint.
Handbuilt in black stoneware, the sculpture takes the form of an asymmetrical vessel with a textured, mineral-like surface. Individually formed ceramic chain links emerge from within creating a contrast between the solidity of the vessel and the delicate nature of what it holds.
The surface bears traces of the making process, allowing the material to reveal its own character through subtle variations in texture, tone and form.
